How Social Media Platforms Can Help Companies Conquer Brand Archetypes

Social media platforms are a good way for brands to connect with their audience. They can also help shape how people perceive your brand. Social media is not just about broadcasting messages, it’s about having conversations with the public and establishing relationships that go beyond just one-time transactions. This blog post will talk about the 12 brand archetypes and what kind of content you should share on each platform in order to be successful!
The 12 brand archetypes are:
The Dutiful Child, The Explorer, The Innocent, The Hero/Heroine,The Caregiver, The Creator ,The Jester or Joker.
In order to be successful with each archetype you have to share specific kinds of content on different social media platforms! For example… If your brand is the care giver then it’s a perfect fit for Pinterest and Instagram because people will post pictures asking for advice about their problems that they can’t find an answer too. You should also create Pins and posts around giving back through volunteer work. On Facebook this archetype would want updates from nonprofits who are helping others in need as well as inspirational quotes about how good it feels to make someone happy! Twitter has a perfect fit for the care giver archetype because it’s a platform where you can post quick updates about things that inspire you.
A list of suggestions to get started with each archetype are listed below!
The Sage - Google or Safari, depending on your audience preference. This archetype likes inspirational quotes and photos that make them feel good about themselves! Facebook is also great since they want to be updated all the time so posts around volunteering would appeal to this group as well.
The Everyman- IKEA should be your main priority if your brand fits in here. They like beautiful images and videos of traveling different places which will encourage other people who follow them do the same thing! Insta gram has a perfect fit for The explorer too but it’s more about sharing pictures of your past trips and cool places you’ve been to.
The Innocent- Dove is the platform for this archetype since they like beautiful images that make them feel good! Facebook has a perfect fit as well but it’s all about positive news stories on videos so people can feel inspired by what others are doing in their community. Twitter also has a perfect fit for this archetype because they want to be updated all the time so you can post inspirational quotes or videos that others will find interesting.
The Hero/Heroine- Nike is best for this archetype since people tend to rant about how bad their day was and what bothers them on social media! Insta gram has a perfect fit but it’s more about sharing pictures of your accomplishments to inspire others. Twitter also has a perfect fit since people who are this archetype want to be updated all the time so you can post inspirational quotes or videos that will help them feel good!
The Caregiver- WWF best for The Care giver because they like being able to post guides and helpful tips. They also like it when people share recipes to help them cook dinner at home! Insta gram has a perfect fit too but it’s more about sharing pictures of your friends and family who you give back to in the community. Johnson n Johnson is best for The Caregiver archetype because they want updates all day long so posts around volunteer work or helping others will appeal to this group.
The Creator- Apple is a perfect fit for The creator because it’s a platform where people can post guides and helpful tips about things they’re interested in creating! Insta gram has a great fit too but it’s more about sharing pictures of your past creations that you are proud of, whether that be paintings or a new book you wrote. Facebook is best for this archetype because they want to be updated all the time so posts about upcoming projects, updates on books you are writing ,and your thoughts will appeal to them!
The Jester or Joker- M&M’s has a perfect fit since people who follow The jester love funny pictures and videos. Facebook has a great fit too since people want to be updated all the time so posts about events or memes that are popular will appeal to this archetype! Twitter is best for The jester if your brand fits into this group because they like quick updates and funny pictures/videos you find on social media.
The Ruler- This archetype likes quick updates on current events and pictures of other people who are influential. Mercedes Benz is best for this archetype because it’s a platform where you can share quick updates about things that inspire you! Insta gram also has a perfect fit but it’s more about sharing quotes or videos that will help others feel like they’re not alone in whatever challenges they face. Twitter is best for The ruler archetype because they like quick updates on current events and pictures/videos of other people who are influential.
The Magician- This group likes to see things in a different way so posts that will encourage them to think differently when approaching projects or difficult situations, Disney has a perfect fit with this archetype! Insta gram also has a great fit but it’s more about sharing quotes or videos that will encourage others to think differently. Twitter is best for The Magician archetype because they like quick updates on current events and inspirational messages/quotes you find!
The Outlaw- This group likes shares things that are new, exciting, or interesting so Diesel has a perfect fit since people like togo beyond the norm! Diesel has a great fit as well but it’s more about sharing posts that will encourage others who are interested in things you found. Twitter is best for The Explorer archetype because quick updates and messages/quotes with inspirational messages.
The Lover- This archetype likes to share inspirational messages and quotes so Chanel has a great fit! Chanel is best for this group because they like quick updates that will inspire others.
Here’s a quick exercise to see if you have raving fans that enjoy your brand !
First, open an email and send it to a friend
Next, ask your friend the following three questions:
Why did you subscribe? What was one thing that stood out most about our brand when they subscribed? When do you usually read/watch my emails? Is there anything specific I can add to make this weekly update even better for them!?
